Well, for now I’m happy to say that everything goes very well... The phone is rooted and ready to receive all the goodies I use only once a year (or less)!

It’s very responsive, not a single lag for now either. The whole rooting process took me like 5 minutes and created no problem at all. Though, now that the bootloader is unlocked, I get an annoying warning message everytimes I restart the phone: “Your device software can’t be checked for corruption. Please lock the bootlader”.... Well, no!! Idiot...

Battery life is also really excellent. If I don’t use the phone much I can get over 2 full days of battery with no problem at all, and if I use it quite a lot, like today, I still make it through the day with no problem at all.

So we’ll see how it goes overtime, but for now, no problem at all and it’s a phone I recommend.

I got my 5x back in November. It started out great, but got laggy after a few months. I broke down and bought a 6p a few weeks ago. Back in the fast lane again!

Did you format it when it started to slow down? You know... Windows style lol. Back to factory specs...

No. I have never done that, or rooted a phone. I got the 5x to downsize from the 6, but I guess I’m stuck with phablets to get the speed I’m used to. I know, 1st world problems, lol.

Speed doesn’t really have anything to do with the size of the phone now really... If you want a reasonnable sized awesome phone, I’d recommend checking at the OnePlusTwo, the Ulefone BeTouch or the Huawei P8... They are truly great phones, actually superior to the Nexus 6P... (maybe not for the BeTouch, but still)

Only reason I went with the Nexus 5x is because I was getting 2 for rather cheap for my wife and myself. Just for myself, I would have gone for the OnePlusTwo or the Huawei :)

I’m sure you can flash a custom image or use ADB to get rid of the bootloader screen.

I’ve rooted every single phone I’ve had since I got the G1 on day one (although that one took a while to develop a root method).

Yeah certainly... But will I bother? Maybe later :)

I just got a 5X this weekend. Really like it so far. Fingerprint scanner is convenient, and screen is perfect size.

Yeah, it’s very nice so far... but I’m not using the finger print scanner though... Living where I live, I have ZERO use for it... Everything that needs protection gets an actual password as far as I’m concerned... Finger prints scanner on a phone that is already voered by those same finger prints seems a bit of a stupid method of protection as far as I’m conerned :)

Retinal scans would be the way to go for cell phones. Just look at it and hop, unlocked.

I’ve never considered rooting my Nexus 5, what customizations do you do on your phone?

Something’s wrong if it started getting laggy after a few months... I’ve been using my Nexus 5 for about 2 years now and it still doesn’t lag.

I will most likely install Cyanogenmod when a stable version comes out for it... I also... don’t pay for ALL my apps so I need root for some of them to work ;)

I've already given it to my dad, and replaced it with the 6p. I have heard that the original 5 is the shizz, though.
